Nu Wave OvenProduct Development and Niche Marketing Ideas: Part 2

In Part 1 of this series I gave you a resource of products sold using direct mail.

Let’s take this “Idea Generator” one step further.

What about all of those late night infomercials? How did those products do… and what did those who purchased the product think of it.

The reviews are mixed.

Some loved the product they purchased… some said they were outright scams.

Like “Part 1″ of Product Development and Niche Marketing Ideas — this is an “Idea Generator” post.

Take a look at what sold… if you have the time, do a little cross referencing of these products at NextMark.

One product that jumped out at me was Kevin Trudeau’s “Debt Cures”.

His controversial debt cure book had mixed reviews… but there does seem to be a demand for the product, and possibly one that’s better (hint, hint).

Enough of my rambling… visit “InfomercialRatings” and check out how some of those 3AM products are doing.

Oh yea… get your mindset right.

Look at what’s selling, what people did and didn’t like about the product - and how you could develop something even better.

It’s Copycat time!

Where do the guys at nextMark get their mailing lists? Do they conduct their own surveys. I see you can sell your list to them, but wouldn’t that be a violation of privacy. It looks like tricky business to me.

Hey Olivier,

They receive lists their from the list Owners from what I understand.

You are looking at it from an ‘online marketing’ perspective.

How do you think all that ‘junk mail’ finds its way into your mail box every day?

Chances are you are on someones — or multiple mailing lists… and they in turn rent out your name.

If I had sold 10,000 blue widgets via TV or Direct Mail… there is no reason I cannot rent that Buyers list to someone else — it’s a huge business.

Not sure where the ‘privacy’ part comes into play.

Besides, what Privacy :-)

Building a proven list of buyers that actually consider you an expert AND will buy what you recommend is priceless. If you have a large list YOU don’t need to come up with products. You have people coming to you with products. You then set up a special For xx% off and send it to your list. The person with the product and the person with the last split the profits. So even if you don’t have a product can still make a profit or if you have a great product that sells simply find several people with lists of buyers and set up a partnership.

Sounds like a Joint Venture to me :-)

What you just explained is something I do now… put person “A” together with person “B”, and take a small cut for myself.

Very interesting post on product development. Researching your competition is a very important step.
